Interview with Ravid Chowdhury on building start-ups. Ravid is an American-Bangladeshi entrepreneur, founder, and global early stage investor. Ravid has raised over $50 million in VC funding and has had multiple exits. Ravid was the first CFO and a pre-seed investor in Pathao, a leading South-Asian ride sharing company and super app. As CFO, he raised a $4 million Series A led by GO-JEK. Thereafter, he led the pre-seed round of Truck Lagbe, a truck booking marketplace, and raised a $4 million Series A from the IFC – World Bank. Most recently in 2024, he led the pre-seed round of Drivana, the Turo of Latam, and helped the company raise a $1M seed round led by early investors of Turo. Ravid began his career in private equity for a Soros-backed fund in New York and Hong Kong. He also worked as an investor and mentor at several early stage funds and accelerators including Seedstars, Techstars and C10 Labs. Ravid has two brothers Arshad and Ashfaq. Arshad Chowdhury is a General Partner at Betatron Venture Group, a Hong Kong based VC fund, and Ashfaq “Ron” Chowdhury is a judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles. Ravid holds a MA in Finance from Columbia University in New York, and a BA from Wesleyan University in Connecticut.
